Asistimos a CROI, la tradicional Conferencia de Retrovirus e Infecciones Oportunistas - CICAL Coordinacion de Investigación clínica en Latinoamérica
Events

We attended the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections.”

We attended CROI, the traditional Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections, held this year in Denver, USA. We participated in the presentation of results from the PURPOSE 2 and ARTISTRY studies, among other exchange activities with colleagues from around the world. We are proud to be part of these cutting-edge research and innovation initiatives. Follow-up from the PURPOSE study confirms the extraordinary efficacy of a medication administered subcutaneously every six months to prevent HIV acquisition in at-risk individuals. The ARTISTRY study—published in The Lancet in conjunction with its presentation at this conference—shows that a simplified one-tablet-a-day regimen facilitates treatment for people who had been on complex regimens due to long-term infection (over 25 years) and exposure to multiple treatments. These long-acting drugs promise to revolutionize HIV prevention and treatment.

Our Chemsex Prevalence Study Results Have Been Published

The results of this study, published in the prestigious journal AIDS & Behavior, document that substance use during sexual encounters among PrEP users in Buenos Aires is significant—approximately 32% within the previous year—and is associated with a higher prevalence of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The project, led by Dr. Isabel Pastor from the Emerging Diseases Section of Hospital Ramos Mejía, was conducted with the support of the IBIS Foundation and a research grant from the GCBA Ministry of Health. The study included PrEP users under follow-up care at four hospitals within the GCBA public network (Ramos Mejía, Fernandez, Argerich, and Santojanni). Emerging Diseases Research Area at the JM Ramos Mejía Hospital

In the search for answers to the current health crisis, a new Emerging Diseases Research Area was inaugurated at the JM Ramos Mejía Hospital, in conjunction with the Ibis Foundation. This new area was made possible through a research grant from the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) HVTN network. The JM Ramos Mejía Hospital has a long tradition of high-quality clinical research, and its researchers have contributed over the years with results of great importance to public health. It is the only public hospital in the country, and one of the few in Latin America, that participates in these academic research networks. This Emerging Diseases Research Area is part of the Immunocompromised Service of the J. M. Ramos Mejía General Acute Hospital and is directed by its Head, Doctor Marcelo H. Losso. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkXGzN-dpeA
