Our Chemsex Prevalence Study Results Have Been Published
The results of this study, published in the prestigious journal AIDS & Behavior, document that substance use during sexual encounters among PrEP users in Buenos Aires is significant—approximately 32% within the previous year—and is associated with a higher prevalence of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The project, led by Dr. Isabel Pastor from the Emerging Diseases Section of Hospital Ramos Mejía, was conducted with the support of the IBIS Foundation and a research grant from the GCBA Ministry of Health. The study included PrEP users under follow-up care at four hospitals within the GCBA public network (Ramos Mejía, Fernandez, Argerich, and Santojanni).
